2.7 Putting it in Context Copy

Your role is:

  • Prayerful preparation, and effective use of prayer with the person
  • Being a safe place to listen without having all the answers
  • Letting the traumatized person set the pace and depth
  • Knowing your own triggers, competencies, and limitations; “do no harm”
  • Knowing when and where to refer; your role vs the role of specialists (construction and cooking analogies)
  • Validate the person’s experience and give non-clichéd hope for healing!
