This course gives a basic overview of the refugee experience and the trauma that they experience in their home countries and the resettlement process.  A biblical perspective on refugees will be provided along with perspectives from refugees in their own words.  Students will be asked to research refugee resettlement processes in their own region.

Foundations of Holistic Ministry

This course lays the foundation for understanding the biblical and theological foundations of holistic ministry.  It is also examines major paradigms for understanding holistic ministry at both the personal and societal levels.  The course concludes with an application project designed to help the student practically apply holistic ministry principles to an actual ministry context.

Community Development

This course examines the process of building community relationships and helping communities analyze

their context, identify priorities and develop a plan of action for addressing key issues. The course concludes with an application project designed to help the student practically apply community development principles to an actual community context.

Intercultural Spiritual Formation

This course emphasizes the cognitive (thinking), volitional (valuing) and behavioral (doing) aspects to developing Christian character in people’s lives from a different cultural context than the student’s.  Emphasis is placed on the relational empowering of disciples to their own cultural contexts dependent on the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.

Multicultural Teamwork Styles and Stages

In this course, students will study the various components that the intercultural worker will encounter in a team context.  Emphasis is placed upon understanding the biblical role of multicultural teams and multicultural team dynamics.

Essentials in Church Trauma Care

This course introduces churches, ministry leaders, laypersons, and community leaders to key components of trauma care ministry.  It lays out a vision for churches to serve as trauma care hubs and provides training in spiritual first aid, trauma care for children and youth and an overview of pastoral care and lay counseling strategies.

This course if FREE for all participants.  Those who complete the course will receive an “Essentials in Church Led Trauma Care” certificate, however, the option for articulated credit at Crown is not available.
