Welcome to Pastoral Care and Lay Counseling Strategies!

You’ll learn valuable strategies and practical tools for coming alongside people amid grief, loss and trauma in this self-paced course. Course topics include the Restored model of healing care and prayer, plus essential listening skills for a counseling context.

Instructors

Cassy Wimmer, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with the CCC, who has extensive experience facilitating groups designed to help trauma survivors experience Christ’s healing.

Dan McHugh, MA, LPC, NCC, serves as the assistant director of the Allegheny Center Alliance Church (ACAC) Counseling Ministry and the assistant director for the Christian Counselors Collaborative (CCC). Dan has provided leadership to our ACAC’s pre-marital counseling ministry for over 10 years and has extensive experience in the counseling field.

Rev. Tom Laird, MABC, serves as the Director of the Allegheny Center Alliance Church (ACAC) Counseling Ministry and the Executive Director for the Christian Counselors Collaborative (CCC). Tom has had over 29 years of extensive experience providing biblical counseling, pastoral care, and consultation.
