Trauma Care Counseling Strategies
About this course
Whether you’re a lay person, pastor or a care worker, this course will introduce you to valuable strategies and practical tools for coming alongside people amid grief, loss and trauma. You’ll be introduced to essential listening skills and the Restored model, a healing care approach used extensively in local churches.

The Christian Counselors’ Collaborative
The Christian Counselors Collaborative (CCC) is a professional, Christ-centered ministry which aims to support local churches and pastors in caring for their congregants and community.
Cassy Wimmer, LCSW
Cassy Wimmer is a licensed clinical social worker with the CCC, who has extensive experience facilitating groups designed to help trauma survivors experience Christ’s healing.
Dan McHugh, MA, PC, NCC
Dan McHugh serves as the assistant director of the Allegheny Center Alliance Church (ACAC) Counseling Ministry and the assistant director for the Christian Counselors Collaborative (CCC). Dan has provided leadership to our ACAC’s pre-marital counseling ministry for over 10 years and has extensive experience in the counseling field.

Tom Laird serves as the Director of the Allegheny Center Alliance Church (ACAC) Counseling Ministry and the Executive Director for the Christian Counselors Collaborative (CCC).
Earn a Certificate
The Essentials of Church Trauma Care Certificate includes 4 courses in this series. These courses will introduce you to key components of trauma care ministry. They outline a vision for churches to serve as trauma care hubs, provides education on spiritual first aid, trauma care for children and youth, community and racial trauma, and an overview of pastoral and lay counseling strategies.
